or put two swivle points on the sides of the screen so you could tilt it, like a mirror. you'd need to reinforce your solder joint but it should be very manageable. put two stopper in there so you can only tilt it so much. that might be a workaround...

hey everybody -
today we've had some new styles of DMG screen protectors show up, in silver and gold finishes!
http://store.kitsch-bent.com/product/re nt-screens
also, i'm really proud to announce an artist whose custom console cases will be appearing in the shop, wesleyoung. his paint jobs are a very nice quality, i've adopted one for myself. we'll have more cases and full consoles in the shop in the future, here's the first (gameboy color):

lastly here's a custom reverse-painted and stenciled gameboy color case by capcomposer:

that does it for this newsletter! until next time, keep chipping!

thanks!
All the 32K Pixelh8 roms seem to be working just fine! Who woulda thunk it?
thanks so much for letting us know, i appreciate it!
it does in the bottom one (as well as my version of it, which is yellow with a different name, but same guts it seems)
i ran a test on the sound of the yellow knock-off i've got, the results are posted in the thread which discusses the fake gameboy... the wav channel was funky, everything else passed though... (you can hear this in track playback on the machine, the wav playback is just wrong...)
not sure if they work in the top one. there were several of this type released, the GB Boy being one. i *think* they are all compatible, but i'll need to check... i can remember testing it, but the memory isn't real enough so is probably fake in my mind... (happens)
glad to know others geek out on this stuff too!
got the first one, and a different version of the second.
eh, you can't really find them new. the first one was more readily available a couple years back but not its even difficult to find. the second one is rarer, the version i have is functionally the same, and will play gameboy carts like that one too. there is a thread on here about it actually, with some pics and whatnot.
i've got a lot of clones and knock-offs tbh, its one of my big interests. i'll post about them sometime
only a few are compatible with gameboy carts, most use proprietary cartridges and were made to emulate the shape of various consoles mainly.
there are a lot of 'falling block' type games in gameboy shaped cases, but not quite proper clones...
yeah, would love to see an internal shot step-by-step, i'm curious what the insides look like during the process just for kicks. wiring is always my least favorite thing of any project, i admire peoples wiring as odd as it sounds...
i've thought about doing a eurorack (or MOTM or modcan) arduinoboy unit for a while, just no time. indeed this is badass, i'm so glad someone did this with such quality.
the rack looks great.
you should contact nbscloset.com and see if they could help you out with a laser etched front panel for your kits, or just for the future ones, would look sick...
also, for kits, get in touch for bulk pricing on some of the parts, some of them we could help with for the kits... ![]()
(I feel like I should sign it to receive a package)
thats exactly what i thought too when i saw these...
i think thats pretty badass
![]()
nah, its not...
i guess to explain what that means to everyone:
- the mould is first made, but uncured
- this allows for a test run in softer plastics (solid, clear is too hard)
- once the samples are approved, the mould is hardened/cured (somehow) so harder materials can be used. the mould can't be changed after this... but you can use clear plastics. not entirely sure if this means you can die-cast metals in the mould... i should probably ask just for kicks.
unfortunately, i got word the factory doing the surface finishing part won't be done until after the lunar holiday, so it seems like the samples themselves won't be until early February. sucks, but its a pretty large project and i'd rather them do it right than rushed...
i'm doing a run of the samples, and should have some spares to sell. i'll post pics here when the samples arrive, so interested people should hear about it (also will send out a newsletter and stuff)
hopefully that answers the 'timeline' question
get asked this a lot...
you need to list your price in the description not just PM people about it ![]()
you'll generate a lot more interest this way as well if people know the terms. (trying to help out...)
Indicate prices on items you are selling.
pretty and clean

hey everybody -
today has been filled with packaging, doing the write-up, and taking tutorial pics for the new RGBbb backlight revision... very long day. but, these are ready ![]()
http://store.kitsch-bent.com/product/RGBbb
the new version, variant B (vb), has several new features:
-- only 1.2mm thick
-- color-coded wires for easy hook-up
-- built-in resistors
-- built-in polarization and diffusion films
it will work with the RGBva pcbs, but the resistors need to be removed and this gap bridged with solder (if you have one already). i'll have this done and some RGBva units for RGBbb (vb) very soon.
they are thin enough to work with the gameboy pocket as well!
like mentioned, the documentation is nearly completed. its very simple, if you are familiar with backlight installation all you do with these is solder the white wire to the regulated 5V and the colored wires (whichever colors you want illuminated) to ground. everything is built into the backlight circuitry already, so you don't need to worry with external resistors or different optical films.
there has been a price reduction on the original style RGBbb backlights, now referred to as variant A (va).
till next time, keep chipping!
